As some of you know my Dad unfortunately suffered a bicycle accident in August. He was found at the side of the road by a passer-by. He was later put in an induced coma and flown in an Air Ambulance to Aintree hospital where he remained in a coma for 3 weeks due to his injuries. He suffered two bleeds on his brain and multiple fractures to his ribs and face.

He stayed in hospital for a couple of months whilst his injuries healed and is now recovering in a rehabilitation centre that specialises in brain injuries. Damian is still not well enough to come home just yet and is working on his speech, memory and day to day functioning with the help of the Rehabilitation centre and their lovely staff.

Due to Dads accident he is no longer working and is not receiving sick pay. The family are relying on one income. Mum has received small funding to help with short term visits whilst he was in hospital but we don't qualify for any other funding. This has and will continue to be a financially difficult time for the family.

We need to make adjustments to the house before Dad is allowed home, to make it more accessible and friendly for him. We are also doing two hour round trips including two toll bridge crossings to visit Dad almost daily as the closest rehab to us was in Liverpool. This is costing the family a lot in fuel alone.

I have created this GoFund me to help my family, specifically my Mum and Dad with the additional costs and the lowered income to the family.

Dad has been selfless for his whole life. Volunteering his time and expertise to help many. Whether that be working with disabled children, coaching youth football teams or running youth clubs, and more recently giving his time and skills to Cheshire Search and Rescue and Search and Rescue Dog Association Wales. Most notable he recently received an award from Cheshire Police for Volunteer of the year. Before his accident Dad also worked for the NHS. Working hard, selflessly and extra hours through the pandemic. Its now time to help Dad as he has helped so many in his life. Lets help him get back on his feet and back home with his family ASAP. He has been away since the beginning of August and we are desperately wanting him home.

Anything you can give, no matter how small would be a great support to the family during these difficult times. We want to be able to concentrate on Damian improving and coming home instead of the financial stress we are now unfortunately having to deal with. If you cant contribute that is ok too, however if you are able to share this GoFund me page it would be greatly appreciated.

The Timmis family would like to thank everyone for their continued support and well wishes during this emotionally trying time for our family.

UPDATE: We have been so overwhelmed with the donations and support. We will also be donating a sum of money from what is raised to the Air Ambulance and Headway charity for Brain injuries.
