Help Damian Get Gene Therapy

This is Damian. He is an awesome kid with massive heart and character, and unfortunately Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This disease is devastating for a person to have. A short synopsis is that people with this disease to not make new muscle or very little muscle. It is a degrative disease that will ultimately shorten his life by decades. DMD patients have a life expectancy of only 40 years with most of their lives confined to a wheelchair. 

In recent years there have been some great gains in gene therapies that will help with stopping the progression of the disease plus give 30-45% muscle growth. This medication is a game changer, however there is a catch. It is not a cure.

This medication helps repair the gene that produces mucsle protiens. This is a one time injection that will be a game changer.

After finally getting approved for the extremely expensive Gene therapy we got hit with devastating news about his insurance. The out of pocket expenses for this medication per year is a total of $60,000 Our family already spends upwards of over $22,000 per year for his needs that are not covered by insurance or other assistance programs. The actual cost of the medication is estimated at $3,000,000 for one injection Damian.
