GRENADA Urgent Cornea Transplant for Damian Prince

Good day, my name is Daryl Eberhardt, I am helping raise funds for my friend Damian Prince who lives on the tiny island of Grenada in the Caribbean recently damaged by Hurricane Beryl. He was only 7 when he lost the total sight in his right eye. The added strain on his left eye caused it to deteriorate and he lost sight in this eye too. He has never let his disability affect his energy or determination and feels it shouldn't keep him from living his fullest, most joyful life. In 2010, Damian qualified as a therapeutic masseuse, one of the most skilled on Grenada. I can attest to this, knowing him 8 years now and relying on his expertise to remove those muscle knots earned walking up and down Grenada's steep hills. Others have praised Damian's skill on sites like Trip Advisor.

Life has now dropped another challenge in Damian's path. A few weeks ago he developed an infection in his LEFT eye. While being examined and treated for the infection, a lesion was discovered on his cornea. This LESION is the reason for our URGENT APPEAL. Should it continue to grow it will destroy Damian's left eye and cause it to be removed. A CORNEA TRANSPLANT and LENS IMPLANTATION are needed as SOON as possible to save Damian's eye.

Unfortunately, Grenada cannot provide the care Damian so urgently needs. Damian will need to travel from Grenada to Barbados, to receive treatment at the Warrens Eye Care Centre, under Dr. Nigel Barker. This process could take a week or more. He will need a companion to travel with, and stay with him through the time needed on Barbados.

Damian has not been able to work while he has been dealing with his present eye condition. The infection must clear before he can have surgery. After the cornea transplant and new lens surgery, he will not be able to work for a year to ensure the success of his operation. On his return to Grenada, Damian will need several prescriptions a day, renewed on a monthly basis, to give him the best chance of success from his surgery. All of this is a huge expense. You can grasp the significant financial cost to save his eye. Damian, along with his wife Kelly Ann and their two children, will be blessed by the support you give both financially and spiritually while he heals.
