The friends of Wendy Conte at Vinewood Community Church need your help in raising some much-needed funds. On January 8th, in the midst of the California superstorm, Wendy came home from a graveyard shift to find her massive Cedar tree laying across her backyard, her neighbors’ yards, power lines, garage and fencing. By the Grace of God, no one was injured!
The total cost to have the tree cut and removed by a crane was $42,000. The garage, which was destroyed by the tree, was beyond repair. A cleanup team came in and removed what used to be the garage. That bill came to $5,700 to haul away the remains. Wendy is still calculating the losses of the hand tools and power tools that were also ruined from the tree.
Unfortunately, FEMA is unable to help financially because her primary residence was not affected. The Small Business Administration has granted her a $25,000.00 loan, which combined with a $14,000.00 insurance payment will almost cover the tree removal.
If you have spoken to Wendy, you know how much this has affected her. She is mentally and physically exhausted. Paying back such huge loans seems to be an impossible task. She is not one who typically asks for help, but her friends and family have insisted that if there was ever a time to do so, it is now. Thank you for surrounding her with your love and support during this difficult time in her life.
