Whew! Let’s just say that Dallas DogRRR has a few new “thousand dollar” babies. Yes, it sounds glamourous and so prestigious, but it means “big bucks” are required to get these sweet babies back into good health and adoption ready. These guys have a long road of recovery, but Dallas DogRRR and their supporters will give these dogs back their health and the opportunity for an awesome future!
Two of our current rescues have already started their laundry list of health treatments and are on their long road to recovery. Linda and Ruby were rescued off the streets of SE Dallas a few weeks ago. Both girls were in poor shape and readily accepted our help. After consulting our vet this week for Linda’s follow up appointment, it was determined that her most pressing issue was her inverted eyelids. Her eyes really have been bothering her and are a MAJOR nuisance, making her uncomfortable most of her waking hours. Her eye surgery alone cost $700 and she still needs to start heart worm treatment and be spayed. These additional procedures will cost another $500 plus dollars.
Let’s just say that Ruby was rescued from the bad streets of SE Dallas just in the knick of time. Not only was Ruby complete bald from mange, but Day 1 living off the streets, she was rushed into surgery to treat her pyometra. If this was left untreated, it could have easily cost her life. Nonetheless, her life saving surgery came at a hefty price tag of $800. Miss Ruby is still not completely healthy and needs to be treated for heart worms and spayed. These remaining procedures will easily run another $500 plus dollars.
Everyone on the Dallas DogRRR team is so thankful that both Linda and Ruby are now in a loving foster home, free of worry and living the good life. Good things are in your future, sweet girls! Although we are not thrilled to admit new members into the “thousand dollar club,” their health and safety is well worth every penny!
*** Please watch for updates on several other Dallas DogRRR pups who have some major health concerns. Patrick, a Crawford Park alumni, has been frequenting the vet for chronic ongoing issues. On a recent visit, the vet noticed a mole which is being tested for cancer. Remember the solid white pittie who was hiding in the bushes a week or so ago? Well, Casper has been diagnosed with multiple broken bones, hip dislocation and will require surgery. We have consulted with a vet and have been referred to an orthopedic surgeon for a treatment plan. Thank you for your support of all our Dallas DogRRR rescues.
