Dallas Stone Surgery Help
Donation protected
Hello! my name is Aislinn Walker.
I just adopted this cutie 2.5yr old kitty, Dallas from the AVA last Friday (Feb 28/25). He is blind in one eye from a previous neglect situation. Healed and all better now he is a perfectly happy kitty with lots of love to go around! In the week I’ve had him he had adjusted great however I noticed long litter box straining. I went on a google rabbit hole, started checking his pee more frequently and there was traces of blood. I took him to the vets for a checkup Thursday 5:30pm (March 7/25). Where they gave me some relief drugs, urinary special food to help, non absorb litter and a urine test. He was having so much trouble and confusion with the litter that we weren’t able to get a good enough sample.
I took him back tonight @8pm (March 8/25). After the ultrasound we found stones. A big one surrounded by a bunch of little ones. Kind of frustrating that this went unnoticed for so long until I had taken him in and he got settled. This was clearly pre existing. With the stones we have to get him in for surgery. The estimate is $5,200-$7,200. He is going under in the next couple hours as I’m writing this. (11:17pm).
Dallas is such a sweet kitty who came from a previous hoarding situation with 13-20 other cats. After being rescued, he was under AVA care until being adopted by me last week. I asked if there was anything like this to be concerned about before even submitting an application and they told me he was all clear, he had even JUST the day I met him for the 2nd time(Feb 26th). Had been to the vet to get a shot and nails trimmed. Either way in the last week he has blossomed so much in my care. Even though he has troubles, he goes to the bathroom, eats and drinks great. Started to surprise me with cuddles in the morning. He has had such a rough start to life I just want to make him all comfy and happy for as long as he lives. All of my cats have lived to 18-22 so I know what to expect and this was one of them. However, a WEEK after adoption is very intense, especially for a students wallet.
A bit about Aislinn:
I am a student at Marca college Hamilton, where I cut hair 9-5 during the week. I live up here in my apartment on my “own”, without my family. I have a nice roommate who is my age, shes never home lol. Adopting a cat was something I had been considering so when I found Dallas at the pet value beside my building it felt like fate.
To anyone who donates;
I will be more than happy to do/cut your hair. Whatever you donate would be the equivalent of your service costs received. ex. $20 = haircut / donate $100- I’ll cut your hair 5 times “free”.
That would be my way of repaying anyone who donates. ALL proceeds go to paying back my mom’s credit card back for this COSTLY surgery. If all goes well, the vet says he will live a longgg healthy life. Now that he is in my care and we are taking care of this now he should be all set for a long time after this aswell.
Dallas and I want to thank anyone who has anything to spare, $2,$5,$10. This was super unexpected but I’m just glad he is no longer sad, unnoticed in a pet value.
If you’re unable to donate, SHARING TO ANYONE would help so very much as-well.
Thank you from Dally and I for reading, possibly donating and we hope you have a fantastic day!
UPDATE: (march 9) HELLO ALL! Thank you to any and all donations we all appreciate it so so sooo much. Dallas has been home since 1pm yesterday, his surg went well! He is on 4 types of drugs, vet specific urinary diet. He’ll be wearing a cone for the next 2 weeks. I’ll go get him checked up then with the vet and see what they say. I ordered as prescribed from the vet a little surgery onsie lol..He’s gonna hate it but Dr’s orders. He’s been doing great since he’s been at home, so glad I’m already seeing the relief in his behaviours!
