Hello
As you know, we lost our beloved Father, Husband, Honey Papa, Brother, Friend and mentor. In 2009 Dallas was in a head-on motorcycle accident that led to his stay in the Icu for 31 days. During that time, the family was advised to place Dallas in a nursing home as the Doctors believed he would most likely never walk, talk or speak again. Our family came together and decided that we would take him home to be surrounded by the people who loved him most. He was brought home by ambulance with a feeding tube and a trachea. With the care of his loving wife, kids, and family, we began nursing him back to what the new normal for our Dad would be. Dallas was a fighter and survived another 12 1/2 years. He started walking (even if it was his penguin waddle). He began speaking again (with a new voice we have all learned to mimic). My Dad was our world. He loved his family wholeheartedly. The family was always first. Dallas was loved by many, with his extended family being more significant than most. Dallas traveled the U.S. Cooking good ol’ Texas BBQ since 1989. So his departure has been felt around the world. He touched many lives and was a fantastic mentor to many young adults and children. Dallas helped raise his Son in law from the age of 11 (Enrique). He married his youngest daughter (Lauren) and went on to purchase the Family owned company. These two now carry on Dallas’s Legacy as Big D could no longer do what he loved most. Dallas’s brain injury started getting worse as time went on, and he could not walk or even sit up independently. His brain had begun to deteriorate as the Doctor had informed us it would. Dallas began to decline more rapidly at the beginning of April and became completely immobile. His brain Injury started to mimic that of someone with dementia. As many of you know, my dad is stubborn and a fighter. So he kept trying but had taken some harsh falls. On April 12th, Dallas would take his last fall. His wife (Tahnya) called an ambulance and convinced him to go to the hospital to check him out. As the call went out again, the family rallied together to be the side of our heros (our mom and dad). We were able to get a few good laughs in and some incredible memories of him seeing the other side before his final departure. On April 20th, Dallas took his last breath at 3:38 at home with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed, but we rest because he is no longer in pain; his brain is completely restored. And we are quite certain He is putting on a Ribfest in Heaven where Philip G is the music Headliner.
