Hi, I am Sugandho, living in Israel and Czech Republic. I have been taking care of dogs since I can think. As a child I was not allowed to have my own dog, so I took care of all the dogs in the neighbourhood.

When I was in my fifties I had the first dogs on my own: Bonny & Clyde. They found me in the Greek Island of Lesvos and I imported them from Greece to Israel. Ever since, I am rescuing dogs that find me and always have two dogs on my own. Seeing them turn from scared and abandoned puppies/dogs and starting to relax and trust in life is the biggest motivation to me. I cannot save all dogs, though I would like to, but the ones that find their way to me I take on with for as long as it is necessary to give them a good home.

The last edition is Dali, some of you might know the saga. He was the only surviver of 3 puppies that were dropped in the desert. He hid under my trailer in the desert and in the beginning I only heard him. He sounded small, I put milk, water and soft food outside and he ate. After a few days, he felt safe enough to show himself. A tiny puppy of 2 months. I was shocked how he had managed to survive in this young age? I fed him, dewormed and washed him, but I knew I could not keep him (regulations of my landlord). With a heavy heart he was the first dog I ever gave to a shelter. Before I passed him to the regional veterinarian I promised Dali to find him a home.

Twice a week I visited him in the shelter, saw him in quarantine and started looking for a home for him. There were too many puppies in the shelter for him to have a chance on his own. The first home I found with the help of a friend returned him, because one of the children in the family developed a dog allergy, the second home was not equipped for a lively puppy, the owner was a sick woman who could not even give him the walks he needed.

A dear friend with a loving heart took Dali for 3 months, while I was in Europe. When I returned I had nowhere to give him. I refused to take him back to a shelter and took him to a dog hotel as my last reserve. It was not meant for long ... Yet, out of lack of a foster home, I accumulated 6500 ILS of fees for the dog hotel and another 1500 ILS for two blood tests to take him to Europe.

A loving family in Czech Republic decided to take him to their home whenever he was ready to arrive. It took another 1/2 year for his papers to allow the travel. It is happening on 2. August. His family will receive him, my dog Bela and me at Prague Airport and we will take Dali to his new and forever home.

Every EUR you can spare will help me continue rescuing dogs like Dali. For him I spent 8000 ILS though a friend helped as well. It was the most expensive rescue I had so far.

I am working with SOS for pets in Israel, but there are so many stray dogs in this country, that private help is needed. I am having international support by a Canadian friend, I have asked my friends on fb to support Dali and received help and I am paying myself: for medical care, mutation, blood test, food and paper work if I take the dog abroad when there is nobody to adopt him in Israel, dog hotel to avoid shelters when there is no foster care available ...
