Sharing a heartfelt update on Dale - September 7

After Dale's short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, he passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening September 3rd surrounded by his family. He is no longer in pain and is resting in the presence of Jesus. Our family got to spend precious time with him in his final days and say our goodbyes to the man we all loved as much as life itself.

To know Dale is to love Dale.

That’s why it’s so hard to share that Dale Schladetsch was diagnosed in early August with Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer. It's the kind of news that changes everything overnight and it has hit very hard for Dale, his wife Katie, and their family Megan/Tyler, Paige, and Nikki/Rylee/Joshua.

Since then, we've learned that the cancer has rapidly progressed into Dale’s liver, pushing him into liver failure. As a result, treatment is no longer an option. We are now exploring palliative and hospice care to keep Dale as comfortable as possible and at home with his wonderful family. The timeline is unknown, but the cancer is progressing faster and more aggressively than any of us hoped. Right now, the focus is on giving Dale and his family the time they need together. This time means more than words can ever capture.

This diagnosis forced Dale into early retirement from a job he loved, and Katie now needs to give her full time, energy, and attention to caring for her husband. On top of the emotional weight of this news, the loss of income along with medical bills and everyday expenses add up quickly.
