Dale Best tragically passed away on Saturday 20 February while playing a game of Rugby League for his beloved Maroochydore Swans. The Maroochydore Swans Club are raising funds to assist his family with any expenses related to his memorial or unexpected costs over the next few months.
"Beasty" was such an important member of our club, having played with the Swans since he was 8. He had a brief stint playing Rugby Union and was as successful there as he was playing League. We know he made a big impression on his Rugby mates, and so we would like to pass on our condolences to them too.
Dale was an absolute gentleman of the game. He played hard, but fair and loved nothing more than pulling on the Club's colors on a Saturday. His laughter, competitiveness and friendship will be sorely missed.
We are asking the Rugby League and Rugby Union communities to dig deep so we can help reduce the burden on Dale's family in this extremely difficult time.
