Dakota’s Healing Journey: Support for Rent and Bills
Donation protected
I am reaching out to share the story of an incredible person in the community, Dakota. Dakota is a strong and resilient Indigenous woman who has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to helping those in need while working on the front lines of the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver, BC. She has spent her 20s working tirelessly to support vulnerable individuals, offering compassion, care, and strength to those who need it most.
Now, she needs our help.
Dakota is undergoing an important life-changing surgery as part of her gender-affirming care. The surgery, while deeply important for her well-being, will require Dakota to take time off to heal. Dakota was initially expecting to undergo surgery in late May, however she was notified on March 19th that her surgery may take place as soon as April 3rd which hasn't left enough time to prepare the financial supports necessary to allow for proper rest during her healing period. While healing she will not be able to work, which would prevent her ability to pay rent and cover bills.
Let’s come together and raise funds to help her on her journey to a healthy and fulfilled life. She has always been there for others, and now it’s our turn to be there for her!
