my daughter who is 19 on March 20 had a stroke. As a mom we are always looking out for ways to help our kids out an give them the best an teach them the best. At age 12 she was put on birth control the depo shot cause Dakota hates taking pills. She done good with it up to age 16 she started getting a lot of headaches. I made appointment went to her dr she set us up an appt for an MRI. In the mri she had developed a tumor on her Pitary glade cause from to much hormones in the birth control shot.  Well before she started the depo the reason we put her on was for controlling her periods better an protect her as well. So we go back to the dr an puts her on a very low dose in the form of a patch that she changes weekly. Done good with that as well. Dakota was active she worked everyday at Jeff’s Carwash. She was funny enjoy life to the fullest. She graduated early in dec but wait to walk with her class in May from West Jessamine High school. Well on a Thursday March 17 I took her to the dr she has a very bad headache throwing up sleepy just wasn’t herself I was thinking the tumor was growing an acting up. The dr gave her some meds an with Covid going on an her being 19 I wasn’t able to talk to the dr. No mri or ct scan was done. She was sent home with meds an follow up if needed. Friday came around she laid around she didn’t go to work. But she wasn’t throwing up. Sat me an her daddy went to work came home around 5 went upstairs to check on her an found her unresponsive. I quickly call 911 they arrived didn’t waste no time an got her to central Baptist hospital. Well with Covid going on they wouldn’t let her dad in just me. I’m already freaking out trying to think what is wrong with her a perfectly fine girl that has a lot going for her going to BCTC this fall smart as a whip loved working at the Carwash. So I’m sitting here thinking what is going on. The dr came in said we need to do emergency surgery your daughter had a stroke. I said a stroke she’s 18 just turned 19 in May. I couldn’t handle all the information I wanted her daddy with me. So did let him come in when they told us the news. She had fluid on the brain an the arteries in the brain was filled with blood clots.  So Dakota has been through five brain surgeries if it wasn’t for Dr Newman who saved her life she wouldn’t be here today. I can’t thank that man enough for what he has done an helped Dakota.  Dakota was released April Sunday on Easter she had to learn to walk talk feed herself use the bathroom. Basically everything all over. She has done very well but her memory is no longer there. As a mom that is what hurts the most not having ur baby girl remember her graduation a very important part of her life. An the little things we do together.  Her life will never be like a teenagers life. The moral to my story is. Dakota problems was caused by birth control. As a parent we look out for our kids an want our kids to have the best in life as possible. I wouldn’t want any other parent to go through what we went through all because of birth control. Do your homework an study’s before putting ur kids life at risk. All forms of birth control can cause strokes an blood clots. But they never tell u that at the drs.
