UPDATE ON DAKOTA

I wish we were writing with better news. Ten months ago, you rallied around Dakota in a way we will never forget. Because of you, she was able to keep fighting. Now she needs you again.

Her original chemo drug has stopped working, unfortunately quicker than anticipated and the cancer is growing again. She’s been given a couple of options, but her best chance is a drug called tucatinib (Tukysa), which can cross into the brain and have a really positive effect on tumour size. It’s not a sure thing, but it has been shown to help people with breast cancer that has spread to the brain, live longer.

The only catch is, it isn't subsidised in Australia. It was recommended for the PBS, but the listing has stalled, and Dakota can't wait. Without funding, treatment costs about $9,000 a month reaching a total of $64,000.

Dakota is 30. She has fought harder than anyone should ever have to, and she is not ready to stop. She wants more time, more life, and more of everything she hasn't gotten to do yet. This drug is her chance.

Every month of treatment we can fund is another month of fighting. Whatever you can give, $5, $50 or $500, goes straight toward her treatment.

Hi, my name is Bronti, and I’m fundraising for my beautiful sister, Dakota ️

At the beginning of this year, Dakota was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29! She faced it with incredible strength and determination, going through treatment and fighting every step of the way. It has been such a huge year for her, changing her entire life. A few weeks ago, we finally got the news that she was cancer-free!

But that changed last week when just one month after getting the all clear, Dakota received heartbreaking news, the cancer had returned, and this time, to her brain. We are all in absolute shock. She has been through enough and doesn’t deserve any of this.

As you can imagine, this has turned our world upside down. Dakota is only 29, she should not have to through this twice especially after thinking it was all over! She is now facing an even tougher battle with starting chemotherapy again, additional treatments, specialist appointments, and everything else that comes with this horrible disease.

We are raising funds to help cover the overwhelming costs of:

Daily living expenses while Dakota is unable to work
