Hi again, everyone. I know we had a huge outpouring of support and love when our daisy girl went missing in Glenwood on 8/24. It felt like a miracle when we found her on the night of 8/27 after she spent almost four days and nights on the ground in the woods. Though we found her safe and alive, her back legs were paralyzed and she was unable to walk and experiencing incontinence. Upon her exam at Red Hill vet in Carbondale we were told she would need immediate surgery to correct a disc issue in her back if she will ever walk again. We drove down to Boulder to get her the care she needs and from what we know so far her surgery will likely be around $10k. I am a full time nursing student and we could really use any help we can get at this point, Daisy has been through so much. We will post updates on her care, exact numbers for her procedure, and pictures of our baby as we get more information. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all SO much…

UPDATE:

Daisy is officially going in for surgery at 3pm. MRI confirmed L3 L4 disc herniation causing a 90% compression of her spine. Unfortunately the only treatment is surgical decompression but Daisy has a good chance of getting back most of her function back eventually. Thank you everyone for your help, as paying for this surgery is a big worry for us and we are humbled and grateful for everyone’s help. We are praying for a quick recovery for our baby and that she will be able to play at the dog park again soon!

UPDATE 2:

Our girl is home. She’s needing pretty much 24/7 care from us as she has a movement restriction and no bladder control. Today, however, when I took her outside to express her bladder she would put weight on her back legs! She’s eating, drinking, and comfortable on her current medications. She’s already making progress and we’re so proud of her. Thank you for making this happen ❤️
