In July 2025 I was waiting to hear back from a blood test about suspected anemia. The next day I was given the news that my blood tests were extremely abnormal and thus began the lengthy process of investigations into potential causes.

My diagnoses was finally resolved as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis, a rare immune related disease that affects bile ducts and liver. In PSC, bile cannot flow out of the liver efficiently due to hardening in the bile ducts. This can lead to a variety of complications, including bile duct infections, cirrhosis, bile duct cancer and/or liver failure.

As you can imagine, it’s been a worrying time for both myself, my family and close friends. Due to the diseases progressiveness, my liver has become significantly damaged in a short amount of time, presenting as stage four level advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis.

I don’t consider myself an unlucky person, I have an amazing life and so much to be thankful for. However, now i’m choosing to be part of the community of people fundraising to find a cure for PSC for good.
