There are few people like Daisy.
She is naturally and unconsciously funny, she has the power to befriend anyone she meets and to put in the effort to keep that friendship forever. She is amazingly brilliant yet somehow a bit forgetful, she can make you laugh out loud but can also listen to you wholeheartedly and become your best confidant.
Our Daisy has the sweetest smile, a beautiful countenance and being around her always makes you feel at home.
Those who know her also know that she has made the best of her situation wherever God has led her, shining bright but also shedding light to others by being there for them through selfless support, comfort and prayer.
We love her and now it is our turn to be there for her and her family in this time of need as they are facing a tremendous hardship:
It was Daisy’s dream to do cancer research, and the Lord blessed her with an opportunity to do a post-doctorate in the USA, an opportunity which was supported and bravely championed by Daisy’s husband Samuel. Samuel and Daisy both moved to the US and are now living in Maryland, where they have valiantly been navigating with the challenges of Daisy’s postdoc and the difficulties of living in a new country – far from home, their church, and their loved ones.
In this season of change they were also able to experience the greatest of joys, as Daisy gave birth to their beautiful miracle baby girl, Victoria Ineza Rwomushana this past January 25th, 2024. Happily, Daisy’s mom, Justin, landed from Rwanda just in time for Daisy to push. Justin and Sam were both by her side during delivery.
It is heartbreaking that such a magical moment was followed by dreadful events, as Daisy had to have an emergency brain surgery performed less than a week after childbirth due to high blood pressure (eclampsia). By God’s grace she got medical attention on time.
The details of Daisy’s medical procedures, treatment and recovery should be shared by her family alone. As her friends we can only share that as of now she is still hospitalized but has left the ICU and has started a slow but steady process of recovery. She is getting stronger by the day, she can hear and use gestures to communicate, and we pray that her courageous heart can feel all the love, prayers and support we are sending her way.
We are thankful for Daisy’s brave and strong mother, who is now taking care of baby Victoria with twice as much love and dedication - as Daisy cannot do so for now. We are grateful for Sam, who has bravely and lovingly been by Daisy’s side, day and night during this difficult time while also endeavoring to see his child and help his mother-in-law in every way possible.
All Daisy’s family asks for are prayers. We are praying - and will keep praying - for strength, healing and a fast recovery so that Daisy can hold her precious baby girl in her arms soon; however, as her friends we would also like to make a financial contribution to Daisy and her family during this hardship, to hopefully alleviate their burdens in the weeks and months to come.
God has been faithful and provided for them during every step of the way, but we hope that Daisy and Sam can also feel supported through ours and your much appreciated contribution.
Let’s pray for Daisy and her loved ones, and if you can - please also contribute through this platform. Let’s share these acts of kindness to Daisy and her precious family, Sam and Victoria (whose middle name, Ineza, befittingly means kindness in kinyarwanda).
Please spread the word by sharing this only through private message with those whom you know love Daisy. She and Sam are asking not to post this on social media. We want to honor their wishes.
Thank you.
