Daisy's Dancing Dream

Donation protected
13-year-old Daisy Lamb based in Milton Keynes has been dancing since she was 3 and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. She currently dances at Rebecca Marie Academy Of Dance, Rosemary Lane School of Ballet and Milton Keynes Dance Theatre.

Daisy has been successful in gaining a place at a prestigious performing arts school called The Hammond in Chester starting in September 2023. What an incredible achievement! Daisy on her audition day looked at me and said “This is it, it feels like home. This is where I need to be” She came out of her audition beaming. Daisy will study world-class ballet, tap, contemporary and jazz classes as well as academics.

She currently takes 15 hours of lessons per week and is a teaching assistant with younger students 3 days per week, something which is very important to her.

Every day she gets up early before school to stretch and practice to continually improve, she constantly pushes herself out of her comfort zones and is always willing to “give it a go” and try new styles. During lockdown she was able to continue her passion with regular online lessons and even entered competitions virtually and was awarded UTD’s most promising dancer, she became inventive with her training and would study the New York City Ballet’s videos learning the exercises, the variations and would then choreograph her own. Since starting secondary school, she has had a tough time. She has been bullied for standing out and being “different”. Her mental health began to suffer and she became withdrawn and very, very unhappy. Dance then became more important. It is her haven, a place where she is free to express herself through movement, a place where individuality is celebrated and encouraged and a place where she can get lost in the music and choreography. Daisy has never let these hurdles hold her back; she is fiercely driven and extremely dedicated when it comes to ballet. She has never let the words of others stop her from striving to be the best person she can be, she offers her help and support to her dance schools and the younger dancers and her peers. She is kind, compassionate and caring; you will always find her side of the stage cheering on her friends at competitions. Daisy is a real inspiration to her peers, she never complains about all she has had to deal with or that she doesn’t always get the opportunity to be out with her friends and that she often misses birthday parties and occasions. Her positive energy and spirit radiate from within, she has the bubbliest personality and is always ready to learn. Her dream is to one day appear in a Ballet and on stage in the West End and to inspire young dancers as others have inspired her. She aspires to one day be able to come back and teach dance to her local community and be all to them that her dance teachers and dance friends are to her. A family…………

At £30,000 per year, money is the only thing holding Daisy back from being able to accept the school's offer. The cost covers boarding fees, academics and a year’s training. Unfortunately, the school only have a limited amount of MDS (Government funded scholarships). Daisy would start in year 9 and would have a place until the end of year 11. She can then re-apply for A levels there is she chooses to do so.

We as a family are asking for your support in making this dream come true. We know this is a large goal and times are hard, however every very little helps. Please share Daisy’s story far and wide and keep her reaching for the stars. We hope to gain as much support as possible.
