Camps International Volunteering Expedition - Cambodia

Donation protected
In the summer of 2025, when I am 15 years old, I am going on a once in a lifetime trip to Cambodia with my school and Camps International for a four week expedition. This amazing opportunity will involve community development work, environmental projects and wildlife conservation. I will be volunteering in a Cambodian community doing whatever work they need help with, such as:

  • Building school rooms.
  • Making clay pots for water.
  • Digging wells for clean water.
  • Building bridges to give children safer river crossings to school.
  • Reforestation programmes to help replenish forests that have been damaged by commercial deforestation and supporting communities to grow crops of their own.

I will be spending a lot of time with the local people and I am really looking forward to helping at the schools, supporting children to learn English and hopefully learning some of their language myself. I really enjoy working with children and currently volunteer at my local primary school, my village brownie group and also the girl guides where I am a young leader.

As part of the trip, I will be trekking for four days in the jungle which will be an enormous challenge for me. I will also visit Angkor Water Temples and also the S21 prison and the Killing Fields.

This expedition will help me develop my confidence as well as learn many new life skills. It will also give me the chance to experience a completely different culture and way of living, whilst making a difference to the lives of people living in Cambodia.

Part of this experience includes fundraising for my trip. I am trying to raise around 50% of my expedition fees and so my personal fundraising goal is £2,200. So far I have raised over £700 from cake sales, selling my toys and clothes, baby sitting, doing jobs for people and kind donations.

I have also set myself a challenge to walk 450km in 100 days starting in March 2025. This is the north to south distance of Cambodia. I will be using this challenge to boost my fundraising and will chart my progress on a map of Cambodia.

I would really appreciate any donations to help me reach my goal.
