Daisy's Bladder Stone Surgery
Donation protected
Hi all,
My name is Noah Jagielski and I am a senior at the Ohio State University. I'm studying English and Neuroscience and will graduate in the Spring of 2023 before applying to medical school. Currently, I'm balancing school and cardiovascular genomics research, along with my barista job on campus. As someone who is trying to save for a new car and a great number of upcoming medical school application fees, I am not in a position to afford and finance unexpected expenses.
For the past couple of weeks, my childhood dog, Daisy, has been continuously squatting outside during walks without any urine coming out. This was constant throughout the day, leading to little pools of urine throughout my apartment due to her loss of bladder control. She is potty trained, but it seems like that ability has been quickly deteriorating. Over the past few days, symptoms have progressed to the point where she has been urinating blood. After taking her to the vet for immediate care, the vet ordered x-rays and diagnostic tests amongst other things. The vet diagnosed her as having bladder stones and classified her crystals as struvite. Due to the number of crystals present and the size of many of them, the vet mentioned surgery as the only promising option (in comparison to a special diet and non-invasive removal options). The procedure is about $1600, and considering my current financial situation while in college, happens to be more than what I can currently afford. Due to Daisy being my dog, my family is hesitant to financially support me.
I consider Daisy more than family... she is my entire life and has been with me through the ups and downs of high school, college, and work. I was hoping on taking her with me to medical school so she can be with me to support my next phase in life, all while I support her as well. The chance of losing her pains me, but as an 8-year-old dog, I am willing to fight my hardest to give her another chance at life.
Every single dollar donated will help cover the cost of surgery, and even if it's 50 cents, I am appreciative of absolutely anything.
Thank you so, so much.
