Daisy's Battle with Leukaemia

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Adam, and I'm an uncle to a wonderful and beautiful little girl named Daisy, who is 4 years old. I'm writing on behalf of Daisy, her parents Megan (my sister), and Connor, in the hope that you can assist them during this incredibly difficult time.

Five days before her 3rd birthday in November 2021, we received the devastating diagnosis that Daisy has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). From that date, Daisy underwent 20 months of chemotherapy, losing her hair, taking countless medications, and undergoing many surgical procedures to battle this horrible illness. Throughout this journey, Daisy has remained the amazingly brave girl that we all dearly love.

We truly believed Daisy had overcome this ordeal, but in August 2023, just 2-3 months before she could be considered cancer-free, it had returned. The cancer was identified in her spinal fluid after causing a series of headaches and vomiting. Unfortunately, Daisy was among the 2% of children with AL-Leukaemia who experience a relapse.

That marked the restart of treatment through a much stronger and more drastic approach of chemotherapy, coupled with radiation therapy and a full bone marrow transplant. Her existing bone marrow will be destroyed through the chemotherapy/radiation and replaced with a donor's. Due to this, it will take a long time for the new immune system to develop. For up to 12 months, Daisy, her Mum, and Dad will have to isolate to try to prevent infections that could be deadly or hospitalise her.

Despite the heartwarming generosity of family, friends, and charities, the coming year will be a financial struggle for Megan (a nurse with the NHS) and Connor (a self-employed joiner). They will be unable to work during isolation, which will result in little to no income for the family. The situation is made worse by the theft of thousands of pounds' worth of Connor's work tools last month.

This GoFundMe campaign could provide vital support for Daisy and her parents in the following ways:
  • Covering Life Expenses, such as rent and bills.
  • Assisting with General Day-to-Day Expenses, including purchasing food at the hospital, parking, and petrol for traveling to and from the hospital (approximately a 60+ mile round trip).
  • Providing for Temporary Accommodation closer to the hospital. This may be required during monitoring periods when the hospital needs Daisy to be living within 30 minutes of the hospital in case of emergency complications.
  • Using any excess funds for a holiday once Daisy has recovered.

Please rest assured that any donations will be solely dedicated to enhancing Daisy's well-being and supporting the family through this.

Daisy is an incredible 4-year-old who just loves to sing her heart out, especially to "Green Green Grass" by George Ezra, and spend time with Millie, her dog. She's a little artist too, always colouring and drawing to express her creativity. While she can't be with her friends right now, her love for animals and dinosaurs keeps her spirits high. Daisy's kindness is beautiful to see; she cares for everyone, even when life gets tough. She remains brave during her procedures, showing us all what a remarkable little girl she is. Daisy will beat this!

We thank you wholeheartedly for any support you can offer and are grateful for you taking the time to learn Daisy's story. If you're unable to donate, please share with your friends and family.

With profound gratitude,
Adam & Family
