Daisy the Cat Needs Mouth Surgery
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Amanda, and this fundraiser is for my boyfriend's cat, Daisy.
Daisy is a very small four-year-old Calico weighing in at 7 lbs. She was the runt of a small litter that was found in a barn in Knoxville, Tennessee during 2020. A local shelter took her in and my boyfriend, Will, adopted her as soon as she was available for adoption. Will and Daisy recently moved to Colorado Springs from Knoxville and very shortly after they arrived Daisy started showing signs of not feeling too well. At first, we thought it was just stress or elevation sickness. A week went by and she started having an upset tummy, a few restless nights, and she wasn't eating very much. Will set an appointment with a highly rated and recommended vet here in Colorado Springs as soon as they had an opening available for a new patient. During that appointment, Daisy was diagnosed with a condition called Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesion (FORL) or more commonly known as Tooth Resorption. It is an extremely painful auto-immune disease that is fairly common in housecats, but unfortunately there is no cure. The only treatment is to remove the damage teeth, perform root canals on the teeth that have fallen out, and pain management. For little Daisy, this means she has to have major dental surgery which includes at least four root canals, depending on how many teeth have deteriorated beyond repair, jaw repair surgery, and a few rounds of high dose antibiotics. We cannot afford the surgery that Daisy needs, and we humbly ask for any assistance you may be able to provide if it be funds or just sharing the link, anything is greatly appreciated.
The surgery itself is $1,580 and the medications needed after will be $200.
