My name is Daisy, and on September 19th, 2020, my life changed forever.

A truck turned in front of me and I hit it head on at 50mph. The impact broke both my legs, all the bones in my right foot and left my body bruised, swollen and sore from head to toe. Needless to say, my car was a complete loss. I spent a total of two weeks in the hospital with multiple surgeries trying to save my leg. 2 months bedridden, and six months in a wheelchair. I currently wear a medical boot and use a walker to get around.

It has now been 3 (3 years, 2 months and 23 days as of writing this) years and nothing has worked to save my leg. The bone is actually starting to die and the pain is unbearable.

After several opinions from several doctors, my wonderful team has decided I am a great candidate for amputation. I happily agreed.

So much of my time has been lost to this injury. Lost to trying to save my leg. I've missed school plays, Christmas parties, grocery shopping, taking my kids to the park, teaching my oldest to drive, walking my dog, gardening. So, so much has been lost. I am ready to get back to life and start making memories again.

This is a relatively simple procedure, but, will keep me busy with controlling pain, prosthetic fittings, learning to walk again, and so many other things. From beginning to end, it will take about a year to get settled into my new life as an amputee.

I am calling on my friends, family, community and strangers in this time of need.

Although I do have insurance, it will only cover 80% of the cost of a prosthetic and I am responsible for remaining 20%, and this will be in the thousands. Not to mention the time off work my husband will have to take in order to get me to the doc, but also the gas to get me there.

If you can spare a few dollars, our family would greatly appreciate the help. If you are local and would like to help with groceries to help relieve some of our funds for this new journey we have ahead of us, we would gladly accept.

Although this new chapter is insanely scary, I cannot wait to get back to living life and putting back into my community. Any way you can help will get me there.
