Daisy Duke's ACL Surgery

This is our girl, Daisy Duke.   She is in great health.  We recently found out that the ACLs on both her hind legs (ligaments in the knee area) are torn.    The vet does not think this was an acute injury, but rather something that happened over time.   Recently, Daisy was exhibiting some pain and we brought her to the Vet ER and then a follow up with her regular vet.    An orthopedic consult was recommended.

Daisy remains comfortable with her tylenol and gabapentin.  She is carried up and down stairs for her walks and she really enjoys the leisurely strolls.

She is scheduled to have surgery on 5/25/21 at Vet Surg in Ventura to repair both of the ligaments.    Not repairing the ligaments will eventually lead to a cascade of other orthopedic and pain matters if they are left untreated.   She enjoys a high quality of life and is just full of love.

The surgery is going to cost between 9-10K and her insurance is not going to cover this procedure.    She will be in the hospital for 2 days and casts for 2 weeks.  The surgeon expects her to return to normal activity 8 weeks afterwards.

I know this has been and is a hard time for everyone in their own way.  I, like many of you, was out of work for an extended period of time early in this pandemic.  And I know some of you are still struggling to return to pre-pandemic circumstances.

I am grateful for any and all contributions, no matter how much.    Daisy is my love.   Please consider a donation for this magnificent girl.  As always, free face licks and snuggles are waiting for you.
