Daimhin's World

Asking for financial support is definitely something I struggle with, that's honesty right there. It's not totally a pride thing, I think it's rooted in knowing that myself and Ciarán will somehow always work it out... with persistence we will keep pulling everything together and we will manage and find the resources that we need to provide Daimhin with the treatment and therapies that offer her a better quality of life.
As many of you know we embarked on the journey of Neuromovement therapy two years ago, with absolutely life changing results. In short this means flying in therapists from outside of Ireland, paying for every aspect of that from their total expenses to the sessions themselves, it also means living on the road at huge costs. In two years we have spent close to 20k accessing this treatment and we would do it all again for how much it has transformed Daimhin's world. It was so eye opening to me personally that I have even begun the long process of training to become a practitioner myself. Over the last year there has been so much disruption to everyone since Covid arrived on the scene, we've all seen the multitude of ways in which it has impacted, some positive ways, some very challenging ways. Children with additional needs are certainly amongst those who have not had an easy ride, with more or less total shut down on pretty much all resources and support. All that said we are faced with a wonderful opportunity to gain access and treatment for Daimhin in BOTH April and May. It's hard to put into words what such an opportunity means to Daimhin and how the impact of receiving this treatment will be realised. But we are planning the logistics, the projected costs are close to 5k. We are committed to making this work so whilst we are incredibly grateful for any contributions towards these costs we know that times are hard right now for everyone.
I had thought that I might set this up as a once off Birthday fundraiser, but of course as we're not a registered charity that's not possible. So instead we're going out of a limb here, myself and Ciarán decided we would put it out there for anyone interested in supporting Daimhin and throwing a few pounds this way. Of course, zero pressure... and as always my main message it to get knowledge of this treatment that is not readily available in Ireland OUT THERE TO THE WORLD!! That action ultimately... is my Birthday wish. As someone that teaches movement in the form of gymnastics, I am learning and beginning to understand the complexities of exactly how the brain learns, how we become a result of our experiences, how we access the world from this point. It's from this understanding that this treatment resonates to my core.
