All donations will go toward community members who have labored in the preservation of this important space, and who continue to host breathe life into the community through their work with DAILY PRESS. All proceeds will fund operations of this community space as it approaches its 10th anniversary. For nearly a decade DAILY PRESS Coffee House & Bar has been serving New Yorkers of Ocean Hill-Brownsville, providing a space for patrons across generation to convene within its old brick walls. Located at 38 SOMERS Brooklyn, New Yoyk, this cafe & bar endeavors to provide all patrons with a safe place to work, commune, and create. Through hosting free and low-cost cultural programming, open mics, fundraisers, community meetings, DAILY PRESS seeks to provide consistent employment for local residents. For many in the neighborhood, we are one of the few accessible spaces to meet, organize, and simply exist. Over the past few years, like many small businesses, we have faced extraordinary financial pressure from rising costs, inherited liabilities, and post-pandemic recovery challenges. Despite this, we have worked diligently to repay significant debt, retain staff, and keep our doors open without sacrificing our commitment to the community. We are now launching a community-forward fundraising initiative to help close the remaining gap and ensure Daily Press can continue serving Ocean Hill for years to come.
