Widowed Father loses wife suddenly to Cancer

Hi, our names are Thomas and Joseph Handlon.

On July 28th our brother Patrick lost the love of his life Abigail Klein Albair unexpectedly to cancer. She leaves behind two children, Ari, 14, and Patrick Jr, 9.

The sudden loss of Abby was unexpected. She went in to have routine gallbladder surgery on July 11th. Blood tests indicated an issue with her liver and after taking a biopsy, cancer was found when the results came back on the 18th. Doctors feared that it had metastasized from her Breasts. She followed with a mammogram on the 21st confirming their suspicions. An appointment with the Oncologist was scheduled for the 25th, that following week.

Abby and Patrick unfortunately, never made it. The day of the appointment she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance from their home in Windham. Two days later, on the 27th, the Oncologist met with them and gave them the devastating news the Abby’s cancer was terminal and she had one week to live.

Abby peacefully passed less than 24 hours later, July 28th, 2023, 8:00AM at The Gosnell House surrounded by family.

Abby was a long-time employee of the Child Protective Services unit at DHHS. She had one of the highest success rates at reunifying families in the Department Being an adopted child herself, she made it her life's mission to help children and families reunite.

In a weeks' time, Patrick has become a widowed father of two young children that loved their mother dearly. Their hearts and lives have been shattered into a million pieces and they need our help.

Our brother is a very proud man, and it is very hard for him to ask for help.

Joe and I started this fundraiser to take some of the burden off his plate.

Patrick's income will be cut by more than half with the loss of Abby.

All money collected will go directly to supporting the children, living expenses, i.e., mortgage, utilities, food, after school daycare and medical bills. Both children will need all the support they can get to cope with the tragedy of losing their mother.

Patrick and Abby were soulmates and had a wonderful family.
