AI Club Bogotá: Bridging Colombia’s AI Gap
Donation protected
Hello and thank you for visiting my campaign!
I’m Lucas Hirsch, a high-school student in Winchester, MA, and proudly half-Colombian. I recently received my Colombian citizenship, and every visit back reminds me how deeply my roots run. It also shows me a stark reality: while technological advance is shaping the world’s future, too many Colombian teens lack the basic tools to take part.
• 94 % of U.S. households have a computer; only 38 % do in Colombia.
• Reliable internet tops 90 % in the U.S. but hovers around 76 % in Colombia.
Artificial Intelligence is leading the next wave of opportunity. I have made it my mission to bring AI tools and training I have used in the U.S. to a cohort of low-income Colombian teens, to give them a leg up in the global technology economy.
What We’re Doing:
This July, AI Club Bogotá will run a one-week, hands-on AI boot camp for 15 low-income students. Each participant will
1. Receive a new Chromebook to keep.
2. Spend a week learning practical AI skills - how to study smarter, spark entrepreneurial ideas, and tackle community challenges.
3. Join our private online AI Productivity Club for monthly meetings and peer support long after camp ends.
Funding Goal: $3,500
Where your gift goes
• 15 Chromebooks
• Student kits & classroom supplies (sleeves, power strips, adapters, certificates)
• Buffer for currency swings, customs, and last-minute needs
Every dollar is managed directly by me and goes straight to the students.
Why It Matters
This project is more than devices, it will create opportunity. With the right tools and guidance, these teens can move from being spectators in the tech revolution to creators of their own future. A single Chromebook can be life-altering, turning idle time into meaningful careers, innovation, and positive impact in their communities.
How You Can Help
Any contribution makes a big difference. Program costs include approximately $150 per tablet, and $50 per student to cover food, transportation, and materials.
Thank you for believing in Colombia’s youth and for helping close the AI gap one student at a time.
Best,
