On September 7th, our dad suffered a massive stroke caused by a large blockage on the right side of his brain. He was taken by ambulance to Kellyville Church, then airlifted to UK Hospital. There, doctors performed a thrombectomy to remove the clot and restore blood flow. Soon after, scans showed his brain swelling so a large section of his skull had to be removed to relieve the pressure.
Dad spent several days in ICU before moving to a progressive unit and just tonight he was finally transferred to rehab where he will work to relearn how to walk, use his left side, and hopefully regain the independence and self-sufficiency he’s had his whole life.
Dad is doing okay but he has a long road ahead and no health insurance. Between travel for us during the 17 days he was in the hospital to and from Lexington, the $18,000 down payment for rehab, the almost $90,000 life flight bill, and missed work - we are overwhelmed. There will be more bills to come.
We are doing everything we can, but it’s hard alone. Any money donated will go directly to Jamie and dad for bills and medical expenses.
If you can donate, please know it will make a difference in giving Dad a chance to recover and to keep everything he has worked his whole life for. If you can’t give, please share this link and keep our family in your prayers.
