After a year of battling lung cancer, dad passed away Saturday August 16 at 7:20pm surrounded by his wife and kids. What started as a mass in his left lung last August progressed into his brain, liver, kidneys, bone, and stomach despite multiple different types of treatment. This man was a fighter every single day. He never gave up no matter how tired he was or how painful things were. We promised him we would fight along side him for as long as he wanted to fight and Thursday night what we thought would be a quick ER visit turned into our last audible goodbyes from him before he was intubated. Pneumonia, sepsis, and acute respiratory failure overtook him very very quickly. We promised him we would never keep him on a ventilator, he was big on quality of life. So on Saturday August 16, after conversations with each other and multiple doctors and his nurses, we made the excruciating decision to let him pass peacefully. We never left his side. We played his favorite music, sang to him, talked about so many memories, loved on him, laid next to him, cried, and so much more. Dad never wanted a formal funeral however he will be cremated. We are asking that if you feel called to send something, please consider donating to his wife for funeral/cremation expenses in lieu of flowers or baskets.
