Friends and family, when it comes to personal matters my family is private. Sure, you may see many joyous photos and events where we are out and about enjoying much of our time as a tight-knitted unit, but when it comes to matters of the heart, we are very exclusive. There comes a time when we need to open up and let others know what’s going on behind the scenes. With dad’s blessing we feel now is that time. Very few know that in April of this year dad was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. This diagnosis has come after quite a long back story of struggles and has taken a huge toll on our family. Most that know our family know that we are an extremely close unit, and at the core of that unit is dad. Dad is our family patriarch and absolute rock! He is the strongest man we know, and we love and respect him beyond measure or words. After several chemotherapy treatments (which have made him very ill), we recently discovered that the chemo has not been effective and the cancer has spread further into his lymph nodes. Dad made the very difficult decision to discontinue his ineffective chemo treatments and try to live the rest of his life as comfortably as possible. He is sick, he is weak, he is in pain, and he is tired. However, most of all, dad is scared to leave his family. ❤️
