*UPDATE*
We've been overwhelmed by our community's generosity while raising funds for our dad. Thank you.
In the last 24 hours our dad's community in Delhi has responded with profound material support in response to his medical needs. He's been re-assigned to a new local dental care team that he's been able to see immediately (after being told there was a 6 month wait). For these reasons, the treatment's cost has been reduced substantially! We'll provide an update in October once his medical procedures are complete.
Again, thank you for your support. Our hearts are full of gratitude.
with Love,

A favorite song of our dad's that we heard him routinely sing was titled किसी की मुस्कुराहटों पे हो निसार (Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisar),
which, translated to english, means:
"Let my life be devoted to someone's smile," and the following line,
"share a shoulder to bear someone's pain."
We grew up with a parent who took these lines quite literally. After his decades of commitment to caste annihilation through organizing work (both labor and political) while building a socio-spiritual culture of resistance to the Brahminical forces gripping India today, he is now in need of support himself.
If you know our dad, you know he loves his paan and a brown powder called "snuff" - a darkened brown paste applied with your fingers to the gum of your mouth, creating a comforting numbing sensation. It was a ritual of care to his overwrought body during long periods of movement work. Coincidentally, it's terrible for your teeth. He's now in need of dental treatment to repair his gums and teeth in a series of dental procedures and surgeries. The cost is far higher than he can cover. So it goes.
If you are able to pass this along to your networks, share with a friend, add a few dollars yourself, we feel that this could be a small way for our hearts to say thank you. Not only to a person, but to a body who did more than his share of repair in a very hurting world.
