Dad’s 50th birthday Dash! Thursday 2nd July 2026

Hi
We are Charlie, Jack, Joe and Megan. This year should have been our lovely Dad’s 50th birthday. To mark this special occasion we wanted to have some fun, spend some time with the people who loved our Dad and raise some money for two very special causes.

Wakefield Trinity Wheelchair Rugby team are raising money for new chairs. Dad loved Rugby, watching it together and also watching us play. Wheelchair rugby allows Jack to play the game he loves so much and our Dad often got into a wheelchair to play wheelchair sports with us all. It was something we could all do together. So this is your chance to get in a chair -to fund some chairs!

Our Dad was taken from us way too soon after a brave battle against Cancer. Megan was only 9, Joe 16 and Charlie and Jack 19. Robbed of so much time with Dad. We are grateful for the time we got to spend with him at the hospice in his last week - sharing the fizzy drinks that he was craving in a place that was so much nicer than a hospital room. The hospice also supported us after he died and when Megan went to order a memory bear at Christmas, Maggie at the hospice was so lovely with her. The hospice provides such wonderful support to families when they really need it.

We are hoping people will come along to the Denhale Activity Centre, WF2 9EF, get in a chair and do 50 laps as quickly as they can in honour of our Dad. Then make a donation - instead of a birthday gift - either a personal donation- or why not get people to sponsor you for your 50 laps? If you’re coming as a family then maybe you can share the laps out. We will also have a box available for donations on the day. The Denhale is a lovely centre and DSY support Charlie and Jack, providing work experience for them. They have said we can use the other room to provide refreshments and a place for people to chat and hopefully share memories and happy stories about Dad.

if you want to make a donation and can’t make it to the event - we appreciate it’s midweek - then please donate anyway and nominate one of us to do your laps for you. If a lot of people need laps doing, then when we are worn out we are sure Jack’s team will help us out! We will keep a record of how many lots of 50 laps get done. Let’s do as many as we can and raise as much as we can.

We hope to see you there- please let us know if you are coming and what time you are planning to come (just which hour between 3pm and 8pm) that way we can make sure we have the chairs and space for you to do your laps!
