Diabetes Alert Dog for Morgan
Morgan was diagnosed in 2003 with Type 1 Diabetes. Now, she is a teen. A teen who wants to do everything a teen wants to do, like drive, go to college, be a camp counselor and SO many other things.
A dog would make her life a bit easier and give me (mom) a better feeling when she goes out and gets behind the wheel of a car, goes to work, goes to school and when she sleeps.
One of the most concerning times is at night. If she goes low, will she wake up? If she wakes up, will she have enough presence of mind to test or call out for help?
What a Diabetes Alert Dog (DAD) means:
Peace of mind for family members (DAD's are trained to get testing equipment, a person, food for lows and dial 911 with specialized equipment)
Independence - DAD's can detect a coming low before it shows up and becomes an issue.
Safety without nagging - it's no longer mom or family members nagging about testing, it is a connected team looking out for each other.
