............For many, just hearing the "C word" makes us nauseous. Being told "You have Cancer" are three words that none of us EVER want to hear. 33 years ago, my father was diagnosed with a very rare case of Cancer. He had what was called a Wilms Tumor. What made his case so unique is that Wilms Tumors are found in children; in fact, they are the most common type of kidney cancer found in children. Many doctors could not even believe my dad's story. After having surgery to remove his kidney (and the tumor) and fighting through Chemotherapy, my dad came out on top. He beat Cancer.
Here we are once again; this go around, my dad is 33 years older. A couple of weeks ago, after not feeling well, he went to the doctor for some tests. The results came back, and they were not in our favor. Nothing hurts worse than seeing the strongest, most hard working man I have ever known be torn apart again by those same three words, "You have Cancer." This time, Stage 3C Colon Cancer. He has a 12 inch Tumor stretching through his Colon. After receiving the news, my dad did not want to have surgery, and he did not want to take Chemotherapy or Radiation. The reasoning behind his decision was because he knew the pain and hurt that he went through the first go around, and he did not want to go through that again. As a family, after having quite a few long talks with him, we were able to convince him into having this surgery. This surgery will be his life saver.
I do not want to get into too much financial detail, but this surgery is more than any of us could have ever imagined; without it, my dad would go downhill very fast. With that being said, the expenses that will be put on my Parents' shoulders are soon to be overwhelming. I am reaching out in an attempt to help my mom and dad cover medical bills that are already beginning to pile up.
To everyone that has kept my dad on your prayer list, I can't Thank You enough........Please continue to keep my father in your prayers, as he WILL overcome this battle once again. He will BEAT Cancer AGAIN.
Much Love Everyone, and God Bless.
