Dad Wakes Up Unable to Walk
Donation protected
Imagine falling asleep at the end of a typical day and when you wake up you’re completely unable to walk. Unfortunately this is the reality for our friend, son, father, and husband Chris Reese.
After being rushed to the hospital and having countless tests performed, Chris was diagnosed with Gullian -Barre syndrome. Fast forward to today and he’s been hospitalized for over a month. The progression of the disease has been halted but unfortunately extensive damage was done and he lost the use of approximately 90% of his nervous system. Basic tasks such as holding a remote control are difficult and essential tasks such as getting out of bed and using the bathroom are impossible without extensive help and mechanical lifts and equipment.
The road to recovery will be long, difficult, and extremely expensive. Both Chris and his wife Elizabeth were employed at the time of diagnosis and are in the process of building a new house which is ~80% complete. The new house is a huge blessing because its currently being modified to accommodate a wheelchair and the new challenges that life will present. Chris is not in danger of becoming homeless, but his condition will require a significant amount of medical equipment in order to accomplish the most basic fundamentals of life. He needs a lift in order to be able to get out of bed and an electric wheel chair to move around, just for starters. It’s expected that the recovery will take 2 to 3 years, and its doubtful that Chris will be able to work during this time and his household will be pushed to the breaking point trying to survive on a single income with 2 children.
It is our hope with the love and support of friends and family combined with the charitable contributions of complete strangers that we can raise enough money to help Chris purchase the equipment he needs to facilitate the basic necessities of life. We want him to be able to focus all of his energy on recovering and not waste any energy worrying about finances. His family needs him and he needs your help.
If everyone who reads this will simply donate $1 at the minimum, we’ll reach the goal in no time so please don’t underestimate the value of your contribution. $1 adds up fast when something is shared a million times so PLEASE take a minute to help if you can! This is URGENT!
Thanks for your support!
