Dad recovering from Amputation

Donation protected
Hello everyone, I’m Jennie and the daughter of Roger also known as Ogie.
Here is the life changing event that my dad has experienced on 12/17/22. Week before Christmas, and we called the ambulance to admit Dad in the hospital. But first let’s back track. It’s been only a week since he and mom arrived back from the Philippines. Only 2 days after their arrival, Dad wasn’t feeling so good and his right leg was acting up again. Mom thought it may be some kind of flare up because of the cold weather after arriving home from nice, warm weather. Well, it wasn’t. His leg was getting swollen, started blistering and he was feeling pain within the next few days. He was getting disoriented with some difficult breathing along with losing appetite and no verbal response. Let’s not forget to include that Dad has a history of diabetes along with other medical histories. At this time, we decided to call 911 to have an ambulance transport him to the hospital as he was feeling like dead weight in the bed and would not get up or move. After arriving to the ER, few hours passed and we still haven’t seen him. Finally spoke to the doctor and was told that upon arrival to the ER, dad was in cardiac arrest for 3 minutes but they were able to perform CPR and revive him. Finally, after hours of waiting and having them stabilize Dad, we were able to see him, resting, intubated, and heavily medicated. From one doctor to the next, a surgeon spoke to us to let us know that Dad has to get surgery on his leg because swelling has increased and new blisters were forming. They wanted to perform a debridement of all the bad tissue but with possible amputation if needed. Here’s the upcoming change for all of us including Dad’s. It’s already 8pm and he’s undergoing surgery. They have decided to amputate his right leg above the knee as it was a beneficial thing to do. All of this has happened in just a day and with Dad not even noticing what was going on. But we just hope with this new change, Dad doesn’t fall into depression and get sick again. We can only ask for positive vibes, prayers, and love from everyone. But pretty much anything will do to help us, and most importantly Dad, to get through all of this. This is a new change for all of us and for the upcoming New Year. We’re hoping we can use your donations to help with medical expenses but most importantly for a prosthetic leg.
