Hi, I'm Leah Oster. I'm 16 years old, and have 2 younger sisters. My dad, Mark Oster is in the hospital with Covid. My mom is still recovering, and she's weak also. My dad lost his job a couple months ago. He was an officer of the law for 14 years. Because he lost his job, he doesn't have health insurance and nor does my mom. He was unable to get vaccinated because of the vascular surgery he had to correct the horrific pain he had for 5 years. His surgeon told him not to vaccinate because it could cause problems with the vascular area he had fixed. He is my family’s provider and has been off work for over a week already. The pulmonologist just told him his lungs are so inflamed that he will have to stay for 2 weeks so they can give him steroids and oxygen and watch him. We were turned down for state assistance before because he made too much in the previous quarter. My mom is going to try again for emergency medical assistance and emergency financial but that takes time and they may be denied. He is too sick for the monoclonal antibody treatment. By the time he's supposed to get out of the hospital, it'll be a month with no work. There will be regular bills to pay, hospital bills, and the one ambulance ride.
