Hi!
My name is Carissa and my doggies name is Dacey.
About a month ago, my girl tore her back left cruciate ligament. This was discovered through a trip to the vet, where she was put under anesthesia and went through a series of x-rays.
After opting into daily doses of anti inflammatory medication and minimal activity, not much has changed and she is still limping and refusing to walk up and down steps and hop up into bed. I am currently carrying her up and down the steps and lifting her into bed every night, but this isn’t sustainable for her long term.
Shes only 7, and I want her to be able live out her senior years expending as much energy as she likes and running around.
The surgery will cost somewhere around $5,000 and I’m looking to get some support as I’m a college student, and am only employed part-time to sustain our basic needs.
The TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) Surgery cuts and rotates the tibial plateau (the top surface of the shin bone) to a more level, less sloped position. This change eliminates the forward movement of the tibia, making it stable without a functioning cranial cruciate ligament (CCL).
I will do whatever it takes to get her this surgery, she’s my girl and I love her so much.
