Help DACA Student Finish College
Donation protected
I've known Kevin since he was 13. He was just like me and the rest of our crew on the track team in high school, except he had been granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) by the government. Kevin came to the States when he was just three.
Kevin is a senior at Northern Arizona University, and paying in-state tuition has always been tough on his family. But when President Trump effectively rescinded DACA in fall of 2017, it gave states the right to end in-state tuition for those once granted DACA by the government.
That means Kevin, almost set to graduate, might not be able to afford his final year of school. Harder-working than anyone I know, Kevin is working towards a BA in Elementary Education, with certification in Special Education. He wants to become an elementary school teacher. Kevin feels that more male teachers are needed at that level, and he also has a passion to “pay it forward” since he had a mentor who helped him through his own early years in school.
His whole life, Kevin has been hardworking and kind. Despite his full plate of school and varsity track, he held a job to help his family and save for college. He did everything right.
I know a lot of people have opinions about DACA and immigration and who qualifies for what help.
But if you agree that a great kid who's dedicated to educating our next generation deserves to complete his own studies, please consider donating a few dollars.
