Due to a series of unfortunate events starting in the heart cath lab, my husband is now a paraplegic with very impaired vision. He just completed a 3 month in-patient stay for rehab in Atlanta and is now dependent on a wheelchair, among other things. Due to various surgeries and his career in police work which caused many injuries, he needs a wheelchair accessible vehicle because transferring on his own into a vehicle is very difficult and painful. Aquatic therapy is very beneficial for someone with his injuries so he will also need a pool lift to safely and comfortably get into the water. His recovery will be difficult and ongoing. There is a never ending list of expenses, therapies, medical supplies and the like ahead of us. He needs care 24/7 now. There is nothing more that I want than to make his life as easy and as comfortable as possible after this life changing event that has turned his world and our family’s upside down. We are learning a new and very complex way of life now; one that you can never prepare your mind and heart for. Money won’t fix this, but it can alleviate many difficulties or at least make them more manageable. John is such a kind and giving individual. He is always the first one to lend a helping hand to a friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger. His outgoing nature has always been his trademark. He has mentored and encouraged many young ones in sports and as a police officer during his time on the force. We are hopeful that in time he can recover in ways that can help him to get back to enjoying life again and gain his independence as well. Thank you for your kindness. Lisa
