Help the DRP Bhangra Team continue competing

Da Real Punjabiz is a competitive collegiate Bhangra team that was founded in 1999 at the University of California, San Diego. Since our founding, our mission has been to share the joy of Bhangra with our community and preserve its rich cultural history.

In 2022, our team won 1st place at Nachle Deewane in Santa Barbara, where we competed against some incredible teams. This was a great accomplishment for our team, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic hindered team development for nearly two years. We competed with a roster composed mostly of dancers who have never done Bhangra before (let alone competed) and succeeded. We have been working tirelessly to restructure and rebuild our team, and competing at an out-of-state competition for the first time in nearly three years is the next step. DRP has a legacy of over 20 years of promoting Punjabi culture among youth in California, and we need your support to keep it going.

This March, we are competing in Nachde Nashville 2023, an annual Bhangra competition for some of the best collegiate teams in the US. We are very excited to compete, but we are somewhat limited on funds (we are all college students after all :). Unfortunately, we are not receiving any funding from our school to compete, so all costs are out-of-pocket.

Your donation will go directly to our team's travel expenses and competition expenses (flights, hotels, competition registration, costumes, and props). Your contribution will help our collegiate team continue to promote Bhangra and bring relevance to Bhangra on the national stage.
