EARTHQUAKE IN TURKEY
Donation protected
Hi, we're Turkish American Student Association of Stony Brook University.
On 02.06.23, at 4.17, an earthquake of 7.8 magnitude took place in the district of Maras in Turkey. After the first earthquake, a total of 243 earthquakes occurred, the largest of which was 7.6 magnitude.
The devastating earthquake affected 10 cities in Turkey resulting in the collapse of thousands of buildings, roads, and emergency services.
Rescuers are now racing against time and the elements to pull survivors out from under debris on both sides of the border. More than 5,700 buildings in Turkey have collapsed, according to the country’s disaster agency.
The donations we will be receiving will directly transfer to AHBAP which is the most trusted and transparent disaster outreach organization in Turkey. Here is the website for the non-profit organization if you would like to check : https://ahbap.org/disasters-turkey
Thousands of people need clothing, food, shelter and basic human needs. We feel helpless in the face of such devastating events, but it is important to remember that there are still ways we can make a difference. By coming together and offering support through donations or other means, we can play a small part in the relief and recovery efforts and bring comfort to those who have been affected.
The best we can do from a distance is offer our heartfelt condolences and support by making donations to aid in the recovery of these families.
