Hi! My name is Nat and I've been barely making ends meet for a while now. My boyfriend was laid off of work at the beginning of April, and his first day at his new job isn't until Wednesday, June 3rd.

I've been paying only $1 on my NVEnergy bill every day, just to prevent my power from getting shut off - a little trick to keep my power on despite soaring energy costs.

On June 1st 2026, my payment was not properly received on NVEnergy's end, even though I have a confirmation number and $3.75 was deducted from my bank account ($2 payment + $1.75 online payment fee). My power was shut off the same day.

Since I was already underpaying for electricity, NVEnergy will not work with me or be flexible at all.

I have spoken with DWSS about the Energy Assistance Program, Social Services, Helping Hands Act, Hope Link, and two different NVEnergy supervisors. Everyone is either not accepting applications for assistance, or has a 6-week backlog to get help.

Temperatures are quickly rising in Las Vegas, and I have two cats and two ferrets relying on me. Ferrets can experience fatal health consequences at just 85⁰.

I owe $2,312.04 to NVEnergy. They want 50% of that, plus a $20 balance on my FlexPay account to reconnect service.

That's $1,176.02 due.
