Sweet TD1 Sugar Baby Olivia

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amy Bowers and I am fundraising for my cousin Jeff, his amazing wife Meagan and their sweet, sweet baby Olivia.
On the eve of Olivia's 1st birthday, instead of falling asleep in her own room while her parents excitedly finished preparations for the next day's celebrations...she was being rushed to the ER with pale skin, a fever and lethargy. After a few hours, she was transported via ambulance to The Children's Medical Hospital in Dallas. When she arrived, her blood sugar was in the mid 500s, she was dehydrated and experiencing severe ketoacidosis. She was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This was the most unexpected and devastating news for Jeff and Meagan to hear. In an instant, sweet little Olivia's life completely changed.
All 3 spent the next 4 nights in the hospital as the doctors and nurses worked round the clock trying to stabilize her glucose levels and clear her body of the ketones. The staff spent every extra minute trying to educate Jeff and Meagan on how to best care for Olivia..as well as calm their overwhelmed nerves about stepping into this new, and scary, world they were thrown into.
On Monday September 6th Olivia's body was finally clear of ketones and she was able to go home. She is now on 2 types of insulin and receives 4-6 shots daily. Sweet Olivia has been an absolute warrior through this entire thing and we know that her strength and courage will lead her to do great things in life.
This year Meagan decided to stay home from teaching to be able to care for Olivia.. and a week prior to this, Jeff took a new job that allowed him to work fully remote from home. Some people say it's funny how God works... but I say it's JUST how God works. He already knew what was coming for this sweet family and completely paved the way for them to be together and tackle this as a family.
Although they have health insurance, no hospital stay comes without some out-of-pocket costs. Most people have no idea what that type of bill looks like until you've been thrown into an unexpected emergency. On top of that, insulin..a life saving drug.. is hardly covered by insurance. They are calling around to try to get those costs lowered, but at current status, the insulin that Olivia requires will cost upwards of $600 a month. No parent should ever have to worry about wondering how they will be able to afford a daily life saving medication for their child. Jeff and Meagan have been so overwhelmed by this diagnosis and what this all means going forward for their sweet baby...I'm hoping that we can help lighten the load by helping with some of the financial burden that came along with this. Let's balance their life back out by matching their "overwhelming " with an overwhelming outpouring of love, kindness, generosity and support. This will mean more to them than you can even imagine as they continue to swim in uncharted waters. Thank you for any support you are able to give that will allow them to focus on the MOST important thing of all...Olivia.
Many blessings,
Amy
