Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for supporting our family through what has become the hardest chapter of our lives.
On Saturday night, my brother’s life was forever changed in an instant. He was struck by a speeding truck on the highway, leaving him with catastrophic injuries. His spine was injured at various locations, and he is now paralyzed from the chest down. In addition, he suffered a broken wrist, a dislocated shoulder, a broken rib, and blood in his lungs.
The road ahead will be unimaginably difficult—physically, emotionally, and financially. While we are grateful beyond words that he is still with us, his recovery and adaptation to a new way of life will require tremendous support.
My brother will need intensive rehabilitation, specialized equipment, and critical home modifications to ensure he has the dignity, independence, and comfort he deserves. Unfortunately, most of these costs are either only partially covered—or not covered at all—by insurance.
Your contributions will go toward urgent needs, including:
• A wheelchair-accessible bathroom: $25,000
• A wheelchair ramp for the home: $1,200
• Widening doorways for accessibility: $5,000
• A used wheelchair-accessible van: $40,000
• A specialized shower chair (not covered by insurance): $2,420
• 20% of the costs for a Hoyer lift: $600
• 20% of wheelchair costs: $8,000
• A hospital bed, medical supplies, and therapy equipment (ongoing costs)
We know this goal is ambitious, but we are starting this fundraiser with hope and faith in the kindness of others. No contribution is too small—every donation brings us closer to providing my brother with the care and tools he needs to adapt to his new reality.
Hector has always been the one to give his time, money, and energy to support and care for others. He is generous and loving, and today, I am asking if you could do the same in return.
If you are unable to donate, simply sharing this page with your network is an incredible way to help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us in this devastating time. Your support—whether through donations, prayers, or sharing—means more than we could ever express.
With gratitude and love,
Cecilia
