Help Sammy Come Home

Please help to get Sammy Major home!!

It is with great sadness and despair we are setting up this page up today.

Our father Samuel Major is in hospital in Turkey. He is on a ventilator and he is stable, but he seems to be getting slightly better every day, however the hospital bills are costing.

He has been fighting pneumonia for the past week.

Our dad went on holiday with one of our sisters and had fallen ill early into the holiday. He had collapsed and was rushed to a private hospital where we sadly found out he had no travel insurance.

Why? We are still unsure - he's 80 years old, maybe he thought his European health card was enough.

He lost his wife two years ago to cancer and nursed her to the end which was very stressful for him and has been a tough two year since.

He's also had other personal problems which must have been playing on his mind too.

Unfortunately he made a mistake which we have all done so please do not judge him as he's fighting for his life and we desperately need to get him home, but unfortunately our family haven't got the resources.

He is a fighter - our dad was a boxer in his youth and was the Northeast division champion two years running, something he is very proud of.

He went on to run a boxing club for 30 years being a successful coach and secretary. He helped a lot of young kids for no payment at all as all he ever wanted to do was to help them as he loved the sport and wanted to support them.

He is still involved with the boxing now at the ex boxers association in Sunderland.

He said to us after our Mam passed, that life is so precious. He said he was going nowhere and he was going to live until he was 100 years old.

He has fighting spirit in him and will be fighting to stay alive we’re sure!

The Hospital is charging 1800 euros a day and we are currently trying to move him to the state hospital or another cheaper private clinic, which is proving not an easy task.

Yesterday we had to pay the bill up to date, so we can have the chance to move our Dad. The bills are still mounting up and we would be forever grateful for any donated money to either bring our Father home on a medical flight or move him to a cheaper facility for further treatment in Turkey.

We are finding this time very difficult, and would deeply love our Dad to come home. Our anxieties and worries have pulled us all together as a family to fight for our Dad.

As a family we would not like to ask for financial aid, and we are not proud but we feel this could be our only option to pay for treatment or travel home.
