Hi everyone, my name is Lexi, and I am writing this on behalf of my beautiful cousin, Nicole. If you know Nicole, you know she is a dedicated educator, a devoted supporter of her family and friends (both human and animal), and the kindest little bookworm you could ever meet. Right now, she’s facing the toughest fight of her life, and she needs us to show up for her the way she always shows up for us.

At just 29 years old, Nicole has been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. This news has been a shock to our entire family, but Nicole has met it with incredible strength and grace. Her treatment plan as of now includes 6 months of intense chemotherapy and immunotherapy, followed by surgery, and then radiation. Within the next week, Nicole will have her chemo port placed, additional imaging and biopsies, and fertility treatments to preserve her and her loving husband Dylan’s ability to start a family in the future.

One of the hardest parts of this diagnosis for Nicole has been the reality of stepping away from her classroom and “her kids”. Unfortunately, her treatment team has made it clear that continuing to work during her treatment would be too risky as she will be extremely immunocompromised. Our goal is for Nicole and Dylan to be able to focus all of their energy on kicking cancer’s butt and to not have to worry about the out-of-pocket medical expenses and co-pays, costs of specialized medications and supplements, and daily living costs such as gas, food, and mortgage payments while Nicole is unable to work.
