Accident Backstory:
Brian was in a terrible accident on the 1st of September 2022, which left his brain without oxygen for almost 30 minutes, he had medically died and sustained a significant amount of damage to internal organs.
Due to the amount of time his brain was deprived of oxygen, Brian suffered severe brain damage. He was in critical condition in ICU for seven weeks until his body began to recover and wake up after the accident.
Today we are seeing an incredible progression with both his body and mind. However, although his body is almost healed, he is still brain-damaged, and the recovery process is going to be a long and challenging journey.
Personal Backstory:
Brian is 32 years old, a man with his whole life ahead of him. Brian took up residence in Sydney over a decade ago and in his time there he set up his business, Carrabay Rebar.
Brian has used his success in business to help so many people, he has raised phenomenal amounts of money for Domestic Violence Charities, and he has taken part in cycles across the country of Thailand to raise money for children in orphanages.
He has financially supported his family and close friends in so many ways - he was always the person you can count on and would never see anyone he cared about miss out on an opportunity or be in a tough situation.
It wasn't until Brian’s accident that we truly understood the impact that this one wonderful human being had. Our family was inundated with messages from across the world. We heard so many stories of how Brian had helped people who either needed financial or emotional support.
The reason for this virtual fundraising effort is to acknowledge all of Brian’s great work and return his kindness by supporting him on his journey back to full health.
Treatment:
We have recently discovered alternative treatments that will help bring Brian back to us even more so than we are currently witnessing - allowing him to live a full and happy life.
However, opening the doors to alternative and private treatment costs a LOT of money hence the reason for this global fundraising effort.
All of the funds received will go to Brian and his recovery, including specialist treatment which can address and possibly heal any of the remaining symptoms from the brain damage once he is discharged from the hospital.
A full breakdown further down of treatment and costs is highlighted in the next paragraph.
Breakdown of Treatment & Costs:
- Stem Cell Treatment = $51,000
Stem Cell Treatment - Stem cells are the body's raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialised functions are generated. Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medicine, promotes the repair response of diseased, dysfunctional or injured tissue using stem cells. This treatment can address and possibly heal any of the remaining symptoms from the brain damage once Brian is discharged from the hospital.
- Additional Rehabilitation Therapies = $10,149
Additional rehabilitation therapies - there are so many wonderful activities available for people who are in recovery - but not all of them are available through medical insurance. These activities include adapted sports, nutrition, and horticulture all of which massively contribute to a sense of normality and help improve mindset. Knowing that there is a world and life out there after a life-changing event.
- Family Travel Costs = $22,000
Travel costs - the majority of Brian’s family live overseas in the UK & Ireland and have been traveling back and forth to Sydney for 6 months. Allowing Brian’s family to continue supporting him in getting home and back to normal life is an essential part of his recovery.
- Transport Services = $3,000
Thank you for your time and we are grateful for your support and help.
