On January 11, 2018 our family woke up to horrible news. We lost a loved one due to the gun violence that surrounds Chicago, IL. Michael Islas was a loving son, brother and father whose life was taken away by a random individual as he stopped at a gas station located at South Cicero Avenue. Michael was heading to his first day of work at a new job before his life was taken from him. He was approached by a man who was on foot who started verbally confronting Michael. The unknown man then pulled out a gun which caused Michael to start running for his life. The unknown man fatally shot Michael in the back as he ran. Michael was pronounced dead around 5:30am.
Michael Islas leaves behind his 8 year old daughter, his 67 year old mom & 70 year old dad, brothers and sisters. His death comes to us at a very difficult time in our lives financially.
