Update: 

Recently, we applied to a charity that helps families like ours access wheelchair-accessible vehicles, knowing how difficult it would be to raise the full amount on our own. We’re beyond thrilled to share that Ava has been approved as a recipient! 

The charity has committed to funding a vehicle that will finally allow us to safely and comfortably transport Ava in her wheelchair. Once the vehicle is secured, the NDIS will fund the necessary modifications. 

However, the charity supports multiple families and is still in the process of fundraising, which means it may be quite some time before Ava receives her accessible vehicle. Unfortunately, Ava is quickly growing out of our current vehicle, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to safely manage getting her and her wheelchair in and out of the car. While we wait, we are continuing to seek support and fundraise to:

Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m raising funds for my 5-year-old daughter Ava who was born with quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. Ava relies on a wheelchair for mobility, and our current vehicle isn’t equipped to safely transport her.

The NDIS funds modifications for wheelchair-accessible vehicles, but not the vehicle itself.

Having a wheelchair-accessible vehicle would allow Ava to continue accessing essential medical and therapy appointments, school, and the community, giving her the independence and opportunities she deserves. It would make a world of difference to her quality of life.

We are hoping to raise $55,000 to help purchase the right vehicle and cover the associated costs. Every donation, big or small, helps bring us closer to making this a reality for Ava.
